Thought-provoking and theologically robust questions that help persons in their formation journey to become more like Christ.
The questions presented here each week cannot be answered with a simple “yes” or “no” OR with a “standard Sunday School answer.” They are designed to make you think and think deeply. My desire is not only to present you with the question that will deepen your spiritual formation, but also to create a platform for discussion. Click the comment icon below and enter your answers. Today’s Scripture
His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
- 2 Peter 1:3 NIV
Today’s Questions
Peter says that through his divine power, God has already given us everything we need to live a godly life. If God has already given us everything we need to live a godly life, why do we struggle in living such a life?
How do we balance our role in our spiritual growth with God’s role? How do we avoid the extremes of "moralism" (striving in our own strength alone) and "quietism" (passively waiting on Holy Spirit to change us). In other words, what is my part and what is God’s part in my spiritual formation?
If a new Believer asked you, “How do I live a godly life?” how would you answer them?

We're human and influenced by a culture that doesn't embrace godly living/ our culture is contrary to godly living.
God's part is His grace/His divine provision, our part is to continue knowing Him through studying His word, through prayer, seeking His guidance, relying on Holy Spirit.
Depend on God's grace, He has forgiven you. Obey Him and stay close to Him through prayer and Bible study.
To a new believer: change won’t happen overnight. Usually. Growth and change are a process that has its ups and downs but the ups will outnumber the downs as we grow with the help of Holy Spirit. He makes the changes but we must desire and seek the growth. If we just sit back we may be too prone to hear the call of the world. We need to humbly draw near to God and He will draw near to us. James 4:8.
