A Poem: My Heart Beats

My heart beats…
With desires;
With thoughts;
With emotions.
My heart longs…
To breathe;
To soar;
To live!
My heart grieves…
With loneliness;
With hurt;
With injustice.
My heart loves…
Incompletely;
Inadequately;
Inconsistently.
Creator of my heart,
Recreate it anew;
To beat as one with yours,
To long for what you long for.

A Prayer: Your Will Be Done - In Me

Lord, you taught us to pray,
"Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven,"
I grieve over in the world. 
Every human being is broken  by sin 
resulting in the opposite of your will.

But, God’s will on earth begins with me. 
I cannot control the thoughts and actions of others, 
but I can control my thoughts and actions. 

Today, Lord, let me follow hard after your will. 
As I humbly bow before you,
Help me to be obedient to you in all 
my thoughts, 
my words,
my actions.
