I Believe! Help My Unbelief!
Monday Missive #99
This week’s Monday Missive is a juxtaposition of faith. We can soar on our faith in the Lord (the poem) and we can waver in our faith at the same time (the prayer). But we are not alone in this paradox (the passage).
A Poem: Into Tomorrow
Defeat flees from expectancy bright;
Future’s hope brings eternal light;
Fear falls forever from dark sky;
Dreams rise eternal, never to die;
Tomorrow transcends today’s past;
Yesterday’s defeats no longer last;
Infinite future freely to give,
Another new dawn ready to live;
Vision calls sweet like a dove.
Follow your dream, follow your love.
Listen to the voice from above.
A Prayer: How Can I Ask Why?
Lord, how can I ask why,
When I don’t understand?
How can I ask how,
When there seems no way;
How can I ask when,
Knowing your timing is perfect.
Because You ask me to ask;
Because asking shows my faith
That you are there listening;
You are there responding;
You are there doing;
Even when I don’t know it,
Even when I don’t see it,
Even when I don’t comprehend it.
Lord, I believe.
Help my unbelief!
A Passage: For Reflection
But if you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.
Jesus said to him, “’If you can’? Everything is possible for the one who believes.”
Immediately the father of the boy cried out, “I do believe; help my unbelief!”
