A Poem: Learning to Welcome
Welcoming the wanted, What is loved, What is enjoyed, What is cherished Is easy; Coming naturally, Like breathing in The fresh scent of Newly baked bread, Morning flowers, Evening sunset. Welcoming the unwanted, Waiting, Frustrations, Irritations, Interruptions, Is difficult, Exhausting, Draining. BUT… God can Use all of life To teach us, To shape us, To mold us Into the image In which he created us. So, Today I welcome All that will happen, All that will not happen, As Holy Spirit building blocks.
A Prayer: Welcoming this Day
Father, With gratitude, I welcome this day! With hope, I welcome this day! With anticipation, I welcome this day! I welcome everything it will bring into my life, For everything it brings can be used by you to shape me. I welcome my thoughts, feelings, and decisions; I welcome persons, situations, and frustrations. I welcome distractions, disappointments, and hurts. As I do… I let go of my need for power and control. I let go of my need for recognition and approval. I let go of my pride and arrogance. I open my heart and mind to Holy Spirit’s presence and power, To form me into the likeness of Jesus. Amen!
A Passage: For Reflection this Week
This is why we constantly thank God, because when you received the word of God that you heard from us, you welcomed it not as a human message, but as it truly is, the word of God, which also works effectively in you who believe. — 1 Thessalonians 2:13 CSB
