A Poem: Life is Simple
This week’s poem is a tongue-in-cheek statement about how life is anything but simple. It speaks to the general frustrations of life - which we can handle much, much better as we depend on the Lord. Life is simple, Except when it isn’t. Which is most of the time. Why does everything Have to be so complicated? Why isn’t blue always blue? Bluegrass is green! Or, not grass at all. It’s music. Why can’t geometry be consistent? Pizza is baked round, Cut into triangles, Then delivered in a square box. Why do we separate people Into categories? Right or wrong? White or black? Conservative or liberal? Us and them! Who is on your side? Who can you count on? Can you even count? Or, does that require new math? Life is simple, Except when it isn’t!
A Prayer: Use Everything in This Day to Shape Me
O Gracious Father, I welcome everything this day will bring into my life, for everything it brings can be used by you to shape me. Teach and empower me to use every circumstance to become more like Jesus, my Savior. Help me use disappointment to build patience, Help me use success as a reason for thankfulness, Help me use setbacks to produce perseverance, Help me use danger to build courage, Help me use praise from others as a motivation for humility, Help me use pain to produce endurance, Most of all, Holy God, help me give you glory and honor in all I do and say this day.
A Passage: For Reflection This Week
And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Whatever you do, do it from the heart, as something done for the Lord and not for people. — Colossians 3:17,23 CSB
