A Poem: Sometimes
Sometimes the darkness surprises me, As I bump into the furniture of my life; Left there years ago, With memories meant to fade. Sometimes the darkness scares me, As my shadow falls across the past, Of what I used to be, And could be again. Sometimes the darkness prompts me, To think how things might be different, If I had remained the same, Never changing. Sometimes darkness perplexes me, Pondering why God grabbed me, Turned me right side up, To live as he created.
A Prayer: Revealing All
Help me, O Lord, this day to reveal to you the ugliness in my soul, for you already know it. Help me turn to you with my feelings of anger and frustration, for you always hear me. Help me to rely upon your presence and power to live the way you desire. Thank you, Lord, for your patience with me. Thank you for your faithfulness to me. Never giving up. Always present. Even when I am not.
A Passage: For Reflection
But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God's very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light. (1 Peter 2:9 NLT)
