A Poem: Silence
Silence brings solitude,
But not quiet.
Alone with myself;
Thoughts reflecting
So mind-piercing loud;
Drowning the heartbeat
Of my chest,
Of the world,
Of the universe.
Silence shouldn’t be deafening!
Silence shouldn’t be difficult!
But it is!
Focus…
Feel the calm;
Feast on the quiet;
Let the waves of this silence
Wash over distraction.
Let reflection flow
From the past to now.
What in this day?
What in this moment?
What in this second?
Needs full-focused attention
For listening to the now?
As God speaks in the silence.
A Prayer: Sink Deep
Lord, focus my senses toward you.
Let me hear your voice clearly,
Let me see your divine fingerprints,
Let me feel your loving presence,
Let me taste your mercy and grace,
Let me touch the hem of your royal robe.
In silence, speak loudly to my soul;
Healing me of falling short
Of the glory in which you created me.
A Passage: For Reflection
For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation.
He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress;
I shall never be shaken.
