Since my posts last week were on waiting on God in prayer, I thought that I would carry the theme of waiting into this Monday’s missive.
A Poem: “Through the Waiting”
Life is about waiting! I can't wait until I'm old enough to... I can't wait until I'm tall enough to... I can't wait until the weekend, my birthday, Christmas. Sometimes waiting is more than just desire. It is a powerful passion of pain. For those far away. For those in harms way. In hospitals, where everyone prays. In hospice, counting life in days. Wondering... When? Why? What if? How can we live through the waiting? We live before the waiting... In each moment, In each word, In each touch. We live in the waiting... In steadfast faith, In total trust, As we gain strength. We live above the waiting, Because he is Sovereign God, That is in the waiting.
A Prayer While Waiting
Lord, help me to wait! To not run ahead of You today. Help me this day, To live before the waiting... In each moment, In each word, In each touch. Because You are there before waiting. Help me this day, To live through the waiting... In stedfast faith, In total trust, In your strength, Because You are in the waiting.
A Passage While Waiting
"Hear me as I pray, O LORD. Be merciful and answer me!
My heart has heard you say, "Come and talk with me."
And my heart responds, " LORD, I am coming."
Yet I am confident I will see the LORD's goodness
while I am here in the land of the living.
Wait patiently for the LORD. Be brave and courageous."
-- Psalm 27:7-8,13-14 NLT
