My Heart Aches
Monday Missive #101
A Poem: My Heart
My heart aches!
From…
Hoping,
Hurting,
Watching,
Waiting,
Searching,
Seeking;
As all of creation
Groans and gropes
For re-creation to come.
Like the Velveteen Rabbit,
I have become real;
Tattered an torn,
Weary and worn.
Feeling the weight
Of a broken world;
That I can’t change,
That I can’t rearrange,
To do justice,
To love kindness,
To practice humility.
Meanwhile…
In His power,
In His presence.
I long for the new
Heaven and earth,
Waiting for His return!
A Prayer: Listen to My Heart
Father, listen the words of my heart,
That go beyond my mind.
I think I know what to pray,
But I do not.
I give to you what is going on
In my life,
In the lives of those I love,
In the world;
But they do not reach my heart.
I don’t know how to pray that deeply,
I don’t know how to voice the unvoicable.
So, I live in the promise of
Your Spirit knowing my heart,
Even more than I do,
Lifting up its depths to you.
Father, listen beyond my words
And hear my heart.
A Passage: For Reflection
He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
