A Poem: Skylines and Horizons
Sometimes I sit in silence, Staring deep into the flame Of my memories. My mind a skyline, Cluttered with buildings Erected through time. Two-story recollections, With chimney smoke, Settling instead of rising; Casting a film On window panes. Sometimes, endless high-rises Of apartment stories, Of office tales , For someone else to tell, Since I moved out. Sometimes, the flame Brings thoughts Of distant horizons, Calling me to come, Enticing a future. Promising better, Something exciting; New stories to tell, New paths to follow, New unknowns To unfold. But I live here; Sometime with skylines. Sometimes with horizons. After past, Before future; Always where I am.
A Prayer: Help Me To Wait
Lord, help me to wait! To not run ahead of You today. Help me this day, To live before the waiting... In each moment, In each word, In each touch. Because You are there before waiting. Help me this day, To live through the waiting... In stedfast faith, In total trust, In your strength, Because You are in the waiting.
A Passage: For Reflection This week
O LORD, you have examined my heart and know everything about me.
You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I'm far away.
You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do.
You know what I am going to say even before I say it, LORD.
You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand!
-- Psalm 139:1-6,17-18 NLT
WAIT. a 4 letter word.
Eugene Peterson quotes, who once said, "Impatience to leave the methods of Jesus in order to get the work of Jesus done is what destroys spirituality, because we're using a non-biblical, non-Jesus way to do what Jesus did. That's why spirituality is in such a mess as it is today."
But they soon forgot what he had done and did not wait for his plan to unfold. Psalm 106:13, NIV
