A Poem: Stir My Soul
I live in a land of indifference, Hiding in the corners of my mind, Hoping my thoughts are not real, But they are. I breathe unconcern, Hiding in the safety Of my own little world, Pretending not to hear. Excusing it as necessity, Rationalizing it as normality, Wishing for some magical wand, To ease this burning in my soul; But I cannot erase Your voice, Calling deep within me, To something beyond myself. Stir my soul, Lord; Touch me in the depths, Where I breathe in and out The desires of my life. Stir my soul, Lord; Let me laugh when you laugh, Let me cry when you cry, Let my thoughts be your joy. Stir my soul, Lord; Let me look at my life, And see it not as it is, But as you want it to be. Stir my soul, Lord; Give me a passion, To live the vision You created for me.
A Prayer: Reflecting His Glory
Oh, gracious and loving God, Creator of my soul, Who made me in your image. As I live this day in your presence, Recreate in me your likeness, Of goodness, Of truth, Of beauty, Of love. That I may not disappoint you By falling short of the glory For which you created me; That I may reflect your glory To all those I encounter today. That I might bless you, With every thought, Every word, Every action.
A Passage: For Reflection This Week
So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord-who is the Spirit-makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.
